Getting started

Get started with BoxPlayer: the first setup workflow

About 5 min read4 practical tasks

You do not need to connect every service on day one. Start with the source you use most often, verify a complete playback flow, then add more drives, NAS shares, or media servers gradually.

Walkthrough

  1. 1

Install the version for your device

Choose the matching platform and architecture from the download page. After installation, start the app and check any network, storage, or local-folder permission it requests.

  2. 2

    Choose one first media source

Pick your most-used cloud drive, one local media folder, or an existing media server. This lets you prove the complete workflow in a few minutes.

  3. 3

    Play one known-good title

Choose a clearly named title that opens reliably on a stable network. Once it plays, test subtitles, audio tracks, and continue watching if those matter to you.

  4. 4

Expand one source at a time

For each new source, confirm browsing, search, and playback before adding another. When something goes wrong, you will know exactly which source or protocol needs attention.

Before you finish

  • A matching BoxPlayer build is installed
  • At least one source opens normally
  • One title has been played successfully
